Its all ascended lvl 20+ content there is no new starting area. Closest thing to starting in GWEN is starting in Prophecies, ascending and then going into GWEN.

How do you know we'll have to ascend?
Anyways, ascending in Factions is much faster, and as far as I've heard, you're already ascended when you start in Nightfall

Well this is just an expension, that's going on in Tyria, which already is part of Prophecies, which already has it's own faces, hair etc

Quality over content this is what the vast majority of the GW community has been asking for, a richer experience and more content for existing characters rather than take your new weird build and save the world again while further complicating a game which has 100 profession types.

I think in Nightfall, you "Ascend" after Consulate Docks with the rescue of Koss and the remaining Sunspears.

GuildWiki consensus is that you're Ascended after completing the Hunted! quest. As for Factions Ascension being faster...in a mission number, sure it is. In stupid difficulty + idiot noobs, the Desert has Nahpui pwned.

For the record, neither Nightfall nor Factions required you to be Ascended to go there from another campaign.
Case in point, many new characters from Prophecy being run to LA to go to Cantha to get Max armor.

It's not a full game, it's an expansion.

Who knows that they won't have new faces and hair for the separate campaigns?

The only way they could do that is to offer Hair-stylist and Face-lifters for existing chars....
Hey, wait a minute!!! That's an awesome idea. I hope they do that. (Could explain that ele picture with the new Hair style we've seen in a previous screenshot).

Ascension in other campaigns basically means you are allowed to change your 2nd profession
for Factions, it was Closer to the Stars Mission
forget what NF was but Hunted (to get back Koss) sounds right
new Faction characters can get to GWEN the fastest
(due to the "blink i'm 20" levelling pace)

Oh, no. You actually ascend making [wiki]Hunted![/wiki].
It seems that cleansing the temple makes the gods look at you.

No one knows whether or not there will be new content for character creation.
In respect to "additional content for existing players," I know tonnes of existing players who want to create new characters but are unhappy with the character creation skin options.. so who is to say that this is unwanted material for existing players?
Either way, I think it would be an EXTREMELY welcome addition with GW:EN; across all campaigns. Hell, they could easily add new skin options in an update shortly after... but it's about time for more options in creation.
Also, there was no mention of Ascension in relation to playing GW:EN.. the only prerequisite mentioned was lvl 20.
